Find the people who can help you get there.
The reality is that nobody creates in isolation.
It doesn't emerge from any title, degree, or the perfect CV. Sometimes, it emerges in the form of the right person believing in you, even when you yourself don't believe. Sometimes, it emerges when a person calls you by your name in the room where you're least expected. Sometimes, it appears from you doing something years back that you've long forgotten about.
The reality is that nobody discovers a path alone.
It doesn't matter whether you have filed numerous applications or whether your document appears perfect. Sometimes, the door opens because of a conversation that you had five years back. Sometimes, the door opens because you worked with a certain person in the past whom you don't even remember now.
The reality is that nobody ever lands a job alone.
It's not listed in a job posting on some site. Sometimes, it waits in the people that you already know. Sometimes, it sits as the person whose name you haven't heard for many years. And, sometimes, it awaits within the person who is always reachable when you need them, because your relationship with them existed well before.
The reality is that nobody succeeds alone.
We've been taught to believe that the mere fact of effort is all that matters. We've been made to believe that we would just write another cover letter, hit the button on the keyboard one last time, send the application off, and that it'll all fall into place. The fact is it's achieved through people, and that somebody already believes in us.
The reality is that opportunity has been traveling via relationships and not resumes throughout the history of time.
So let's now give up the act of doing everything alone. Let's stop thinking of the people in our lives as names on a list and start recognizing that they're the reason doors open for us; second chances become possible, and sometimes a stranger becomes someone willing to take a risk on us.
The reality is that it's the people who believe in you that can take you to the next step, if only you know which ones to approach.
