* About pay and eligibility

Paid expert work is what this marketplace is being built to do. Signing up is how you hear first as engagements open, and we will tell you what an engagement pays before you take it. Signing up is not itself paid, and nothing here commits you to anything.

Whether you can accept a paid engagement depends on your own employer’s rules. If you are currently serving federal staff, federal ethics rules restrict outside compensation for work related to your official duties, so that is your agency ethics office to answer rather than ours.
